The star has given the complete sum of his £25,000 honor cash to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the Britain's small music venues.

Fender was given the award on mid-October as his third album his work was declared the top album of the previous year.

The musician has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages fulfilled in his initial steps.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it hadn't been for all the shows I played around the area, and further afield, when I was just getting going," said the artist. "These spaces are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – approximately one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

Recently, well-known musicians such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a modest fee to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.

Fender also participated, collecting more than £100,000 on his recent tour to support 38 local spots across Britain.

These funds helped spaces that were confronting imminent closure due to challenges stemming from flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.

Some locations obtained monetary aid in improving amenities and technical equipment that helped performers and fans.

"The concept that funds from shows in major spaces backs the independent spots, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has commented.

"Receiving the award was ample," said singer Small. "The cash was the extra but we didn't need the extra, because we had the main prize. So our success touched the lives of others."

Recently, the trust revealed it had saved two small stages in the South East, by transferring them to local control.

The Joiners in that area and the other in the city were bought under the community ownership program, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "stakes" in the buildings.
